Dubbed as “the world’s Fastest 7-inch Android tablet”, XOLO has launched the Play Tegra Note for the Indian market for a price of 17,999 INR (around $290). The XOLO Play Tegra Note features Nvidia’s DirectStylus technology and runns Android Jelly Bean, being powered by a Tegra 4 processor with a 72-core GeForce GPU and quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU at 1.8 Ghz with a fifth battery-saver core.
The tablet comes with only 1GB RAM and has a modest 7″ IPS screen with a 1,280 x 800 resolution at 216ppi. There’s an HDMI output for TV gaming with up to 4K resolution support. It also has front-facing stereo speakers, 16GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot that makes the storage expandable up to 64GB. The Tegra Note also has a HDR-capable 5MP camera and a 15.17Wh battery that should provide a lifespan of up to 10 hours HD video playback.
The assumption that this device is the ‘world’s fastest tablet’ is based on some early synthetic benchmarks are concerned where the tablet comfortably beat other tablets with a performance comparable, or even exceeding that of Qualcomm Snapdragon 800-powered smartphones. Connectivity options on the tablet include Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro HDMI, and USB 2.0.
Regarding Nvidia’s DirectStylus technology, the Tegra Note does not use an active digitizer technology but it actually draws power from the Tegra 4 GPU. Also, the display of the tbalet has palm rejection which means you can rest your palm on the display. The Slide Cover and the DirectStylus Pro Pack are accessories that will need to be purchased separately. Speaking of the launch, Vishal Sehgal, Co-Founder and Director at LAVA International, the mother company of the Xolo brand, said the following:
