Not sure what took them so long, but Google has finally made the Nexus Wireless charger available in four more countries – India, Australia, Japan and Korea, starting immediately. This new Nexus wireless charger is designed to work with Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 5, and Nexus 4. In India, Google has priced the Nexus Wireless charger at Rs.3,299 (~$53) which is brilliant pricing considering it costs $50 in the US.

Unlike the previous Wireless Charging Orb, the new one is flatter and much smaller as well. You can simply snap your Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 5 or Nexus 4 onto the face of the new Nexus wireless charger thanks to its magnetic face. It weighs just 105g and hence very portable. The compact Qi power cube ships with a 9-watt 1.8A AC adapter and a micro-USB cable.

Back in November 2013, Google had made available the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) in India along with accessories like the Nexus 5 bumper case, but the Nexus wireless charging accessory was missing. This completes the Nexus lineup on Indian Google Play store.

Spending Rs.3k on a charger might sound too odd for many, but high quality Qi wireless chargers are always priced in this range. Yes, there are unbranded and lesser known wireless chargers available for a much lower price, but if you’re in the market for a high quality Qi compatible wireless charger, this new Nexus wireless charger is a good bet.

Update: Google has announced on Twitter that the Nexus 7 sleeve will be available in India for Rs.1,999, but the page still says “coming soon”. Expect the BUY button to go live pretty soon. The Nexus 7 sleeve is available in four colors – Black, Yellow, Red and White.
