Along with the flagship HTC One (M8), the Taiwanese giant has launched the new mid-range phablet, HTC Desire 816 here in India at a competitive pricing of Rs.23,990 (~$400). The phone was announced back in February this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

HTC Desire 816 comes with a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display, and is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor along with 1.5GB of RAM. It has just 8GB of internal storage, but comes with a microSD slot which can extend the storage upto 32GB. The Indian version of HTC Desire 816 will be a Dual-SIM variant unlike the Single-SIM version launched globally.

The phone runs the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS with HTC Sense 6.0 on top of it. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera which should appeal a lot of users. It has dual-front-facing BoomSound speakers along with 2600mAh of battery. Networking and connectivity options include 3G, Wifi 802.11ac and BlueTooth 4.0.

The HTC Desire 816 comes in Black, White, Red, Green and Purple colors and is priced at Rs. 23990. The phone will be available starting May first week across the country. At this price, it will be competing with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, Micromax Canvas Knight, lenovo K900 amongst others.
