Having a pet at home is not easy, especially when you have to leaving him alone in the house. CleverPet, a smart WiFi-connected device, wants to help you out, as it can automatically entertain and educate your dog by rewarding it treats for solving simple puzzles. This is yet another gadget which should make its way into your collection dog training tools. At the moment, this project is still in crowdfunding stage and it’s looking to obtain a funding goal of at least $100,000 with the cheapest CleverPet device being currently available for $159.

CleverPet is a learning console that engages and teaches your dog. It uses scientifically proven techniques to offer interactions that adapt to individual dogs’ needs. These interactions grow more challenging as your dog learns, and can take place even when you can’t be home. Many dogs left alone at home are bored and unengaged, which can lead to separation anxiety and costly destructive behavior. With CleverPet, your dog is busy, engaged, and challenged at her learning level—automatically. A busy dog is a happy dog, and a busy, happy dog has no time for negative behavior.

CleverPet has three sensitive touch pads which light up interactively and are designed for your dog’s nose or paw. Thus, your dog, which can be a grown up or a younger one, will win food for touching the pads on the device when they light up. As your dog learns the patters, the CleverPet’s software is constantly evolving, and coming with more challenging puzzles for your dog which could be eventually rewarded with tastier treats.

What’s really cool is that you can record your own voice with commands like “touch blue” or “press green”. Also, from the comfort of your smartphone from anywhere you are, you can create yourself new puzzles and see how well your pet is doing. It also comes with a web app, so you can access it from desktop devices, as well. The CleverPet is designed for dogs, which means it comes with durable rubber touch pads, a low center of gravity in order to prevent tipping, there are no “bitable” parts and there’s even a microphone for sensing dog barks.

Despite its slim aspect, CleverPet can replace your dog’s food bowl as it holds enough food to feed most dogs until you get home. The device needs Wi-Fi in order to communicate to the cloud and it’s working within a range of 100 to 300 feet.

megafon What we think of this
This seems to be like a really cool device, but what if your dog gets too smart and too greedy and eats all the food in just a few hours? And even it’s made to prevent biting and tipping, I think your canine might find a shorter way to the inner treats.
