Update: As much as we like to see ZTE Nubia W5 happen, many experts have called these images fake. The actual device might still exist, but these images are pretty fake. Why? Look for Nokia specific apps on these.

We’ve seen Microsoft announce the much awaited Windows Phone 8.1 at Build 2014, and it brought along some useful features that have been in great request by users. At the event, Microsoft said that more OEMs are going to partner with Microsoft and that we’re going to see more Windows Phone devices, as well. As a result, we’ve already seen LG’s upcoming Uni8 get leaked.

But now we’re hearing that ZTE could launch an impressive smartphone which could allegedly be the first WP device to come with Snapdragon 801 on the inside. The smartphone could be named ZTE Nubia W5 and it would be a high-end device with Snapdragon 801, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage on board. Also, it’s expected to come with a rear-facing camera of 13MP and optical image stabilization.

The Nubia W5 could come with 4G connectivity and powered up by a massive 4500mAh battery. The Snapdragon 801 SoC comes with a faster CPU and GPU clock speed, supports eMMC 5.0, and lets you to be on two calls at the same time with Dual SIM and Dual Active features. Also, by the looks of the leaked image, this appears to be yet another phablet smartphone.

Nokia is currently the first name which comes to your mind when thinking about top-notch Windows Phone smartphones and that’s exactly what needs to be changed in order for the ecosystem to flourish. There need to be more high-specced smartphones that could put on a real fight against Android flagship smartphones and, why not, even the iPhone.

What we think of this What we think of this
Windows Phone 8.1 comes with many important features that are able to bring back a lot of previous WP users that have switched either to Android or iOS. They just need some amazing smartphones and from the looks of it, that’s where the market is moving.
