The iPhone 6 is reportedly arriving on September 9th. And as we approach the launch date, the rumor mill along side leaks have been shooting the sky. Adding to the list today is what seems to be the original retail box coupled with a functioning iPhone itself.
If it indeed is the original iPhone 6, this won’t be the first time we have got a good glimpse of the Apple’s flagship mobile device. For years, several things have been leaking out of the Cupertino, and at times through a bar.
The new images show the retail box of the new iPhone. The box seems authentic, at least on first look. TechRadar got access to these images, which it says were taken by an Apple beta tester. The EXIF data and Google reverse image search do add more value to the legitimacy of these images. The leakster however didn’t reveal any new information, nor confirmed anything what we know so far about the new iPhones.
There are a few interesting things that one could decode from these images. First up, this seems to us as the 4.7-inch iPhone. If you look closely at the retail box, the homescreen of the iPhone still has only 4 icons in the horizontal line. In the case it is a real photo, it means that the new iPhone — at least the 4.7-inch variant won’t sport significantly higher screen resolution — as in that case, the homescreen could have held more icons.
Another image in which the iPhone itself is visible, the bootscreen — the Apple logo in black with white background is presented. While it testifies itself as the new iPhone, it should be pointed out that it could also be just a wallpaper running on top.
The image also suggests that in addition to getting a bigger display — resulting in a bigger iPhone itself — the handset has become thinner. Plus, the side keys are now more cuboidal than being a cylinder — what we have in iPhones 5s and other previous iPhones. It is also worth noting that the new iPhone has an additional sensor or anything similar on it. Which suggests that Apple might add something new — perhaps we could see LED notifications on the new iPhone?
While there are many good points to make one convince that it could be the new iPhone, the image on the box doesn’t show the Health Kit app anywhere. The second downer is the big gap between the digitizer and screen. Over the past few years, Apple has started chemically bonding the screen and the glass, which makes it very thinner and almost indistinguishable .
The box image doesn’t show the Health Kit app that Apple announced with iOS 8. Typically, a company features all the new exciting and headline features on the cover image.
So far what we know about the new iPhone is that it will be larger than the iPhone 5s. The new iPhones are slated to come with 4.7- and 5.5-inch displays. However, the last few leaks also hint that Apple might push the 5.5-inch iPhone for a later launch.
The new iPhone is also pegged to bring scratch resistant Sapphire material protecting the display. You can learn more about the new iPhones here. Apple is reportedly launching the new iPhone (or iPhones) on September 9th. Stay tuned for more updates.
