It’s time for our usual roundup with the best new Android apps that have been released on the Google Play Store. While this week hasn’t been as exciting as the previous one, when we saw such titles as FIFA 15 Ultimate Team, Spider-Man Unlimited, Interstellar, Goat Simulator, Star Wars: Commander and more; there are still some worthy apps to check out on your Android smartphone or tablet. Asphalt Overdrive (Free)
Asphalt Overdrive is Gameloft’s latest racing game, touted as ‘an intense arcade racing experience packed to go’! Your mission will be to outrun the cops in an exciting game set in a “new ’80s” version of California. You will be able to unlock and drive 30 high-performance, fully licensed vehicles such as the iconic Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari Testarossa; improve and upgrade your car to dominate the California streets and challenge yourself in 7 different mission types: escape the cops, defeat bosses, avoid obstacles, and perform impressive stunts while you race.
Comedy Central (Free)
With the official Comedy Central app for Android users you can get the latest episodes of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report, South Park and @midnight, along with other shows. You just need to log in with your TV provider to access everything, including Tosh.0, Key & Peele, Drunk History, Nathan For You and more. The app also features great stand-up specials, archive shows and full seasons of returning series.
Anomaly Defenders ($3.74)
Anomaly Defenders is the last version of Anomaly series, so fans will have plenty to enjoy. Your mission will be to ‘defend the planet from the human scum in the final battle of the series’. Anomaly Defenders is touted a fast-paced Tower Defense game where attacking human troops can damage and destroy your defenses. The game comes with functions to fix and boost your towers, a full-blown tech-tree to tailor unique strategies, 8 unique, upgradeable towers and three difficulty levels adjusted for both new and hardcore players.
Commute: Traffic Report (Free)
Similar to Waze, Commute: Traffic Report proactively monitors the road conditions along your route and alerts you to travel times and incidents. You just need to enter some basic information about your commute and the app will notify you 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure with relevant information. Also, if you’re commuting outside of your scheduled times or want to see how your route looks like, you can check current conditions anytime by simply opening the app.
Scramble With Friends (Free)
Zyna has released the Scramble With Friends Free game for Android users, so now you can enjoy the game on your mobile devices. It comes with a tournaments mode where you can compete in a real-time fast-paced 8 person bracket-style tournament in one sitting. There’s also the ability to unlock tables and prizes, play in practice mode and track your own progress over time such as your longest word, speed or highest scoring game. So, are you up for a game?
Hangouts Dialer (Free)
Google has released the standalone Hangouts Dialer app for Android users which allows to call any phone number in the world from your Hangouts app using your data connection. You just need to download and install the Hangouts Dialer to activate phone calling functionality in the Hangouts app. You can also connect with your Google Voice number to make VOIP calls in the Hangouts app from your Google Voice number. However, do note that mobile carrier and ISP charges may apply.
Centrallo is a brand new note-taking app that lets you ‘collect, organize, prioritize, share and publish anything that matters’. Centrallo is cross-platform productivity tool that lets you create unlimited lists containing photos, videos, voice notes and links. Daddy Long Legs is one of those incredibly simple, yet addictive Android games. You have to ‘take “control” over a little, sneaky and hairy creature’. You play just by putting one leg in front of the other and try not to fall. So, as you can see, the goal of Daddy Long Legs is very simple – you need to walk as far as you can. However ‘with legs five times longer than the rest of your body, walking is no easy task’. You just simply have to tap the screen to change leg and watch as Daddy Long Legs stumbles across the screen.
Timy Alarm Clock (Free)
Timy Alarm Clock is a nice looking new Android app that will help you avoid accidentally turning off your alarm clock and falling asleep. Thus, in order to dismiss the alarm you will have to disturb some funny characters. The app comes with multiple alarms. and three cute characters to annoy: Cat, dog and bunny, along with three difficulty levels. You can wake up with your tones or songs, and there’s the repeat option, snooze and independent volume control.
