As always, when Apple announces new iPads, it is discounting previous models. Of course, this happened again and we’re in for some nice deals, if you don’t mind getting ‘older’ models. As a matter of fact, looking at the iPad Mini 3, for example, it will be pretty hard to realize what’s new. The same can’t be said for the star of the show – the iPad Air 2.
What’s a little surprising is that the original iPad mini sticking around too, and it’s now down to just to $249. A killer deal, if you ask me. The same can be said for the iPad mini with Retina Display which is available at $299. The iPad Air is getting the traditional $100 price cut, as well.
Of course, we’re talking about the WiFi only versions here, as you can see in the above screenshot for yourself. Still, I personally think that the $299 iPad mini with Retina Display will sell like hot cakes. The newest iPad Mini model doesn’t come with too many new features, and I guess Apple bets on the gold color option as a sales catalyst, as well as Touch ID.
But price still remains one of the deciding factors when it comes to purchases devices, even if we’re talking about Apple’s products. And I think that gold color and a fingerprint scanner are not worth the $100 upgrade.
Update: In India, the iPad Air starts at Rs.28,900 for the 16GB with Wi-Fi model, iPad mini 2 starts at Rs.21,900 for the 16GB with Wi-Fi model, and iPad mini starts at Rs.17,900 for the 16GB with Wi-Fi model
