Intel has recently announced its new Core M chips, which make it possible for OEMs to produce thin notebooks and laptops while not compromising the performance. As one of the biggest PC makers, HP is always announcing new hardware. The ‘fresh’ EliteBook Folio 1020 is a new notebook that comes with Intel’s Core M chips inside, along with other appealing features.
HP has announced two versions – the EliteBook Folio 1020 and the 1020 Special Edition (SE). Both will feature a razor thin 15.7 mm body, made from magnesium-lithium alloy and reusable carbon fiber. The device will weigh just over 1kg, which will make it easy to carry around. According to HP, the new laptop family is said to be the industry’s thinnest and lightest business-grade lineup ever.
Aimed at business users, the EliteBook Folio 1020 and the EliteBook Folio 1020 SE will be packed with special features, such as certified Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2/2.0, pre-boot authentication, fingerprint reader and the exclusive HP Sure Start self-healing BIOS. As for the main tech specs, these include:
- 12.5 inch Quad HD display, with optional touchscreen
- newly designed HP premium keyboard
- 720p webcam
- HD Audio with DTS Studio Sound, along with a special noise cancellation software bundle
- fanless cooling and SSD storage
- battery life as long as 9 hours
The new devices are designed to comply with the MIL-STD 810G standards, which means that they will resist against drops, shocks, humidity, heat and pressure. The Standard edition EliteBook Folio 1020 is expected to hit the market around February 2015, with the Special edition being available in April. At the moment, no prices have been disclosed by HP, but by the looks of it, these shiny toys will cost a nice buck.
