Motorola has this inexplicable fetish for having different names for its smartphones in different markets. After launching the Droid Turbo for Verizon in US late last year, Motorola launched it as Moto Maxx globally and now, has brought the same device as Moto Turbo to India. As always, Motorola has teamed up with Flipkart for the exclusive launch and has priced the device ar Rs.41,999 (~$670).

The Moto Turbo is a smaller (and dare I say, better) variant of Google Nexus 6. It comes with a more manageable 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 1440×2560 pixels resolution and is powered by Snapdragon 805 quad core processor clocked at 2.7GHz paired up with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. The Moto Turbo comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and is also water resistant. There’s a 21MP camera on the rear and a 2MP one on the front. It supports 4G LTE and comes with a huge 3900mAh battery.

Motorola Moto Turbo Specifications

  • 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 565 ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with 600 MHz Adreno 420 GPU
  • 3GB RAM
  • 64GB internal storage
  • Android 5.0 (Lollipop)
  • 21MP rear camera with dual LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording
  • 2MP front camera
  • 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11a/g/b/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, GLONASS, NFC
  • 3900 mAh battery

The Moto Turbo carries forward Motorola’s design language with a curved back. Thanks to the big 3900mAh battery, the device is pretty bulky, with thickness varying from 7.8mm to 10.6mm along the curve. It weighs around 170g, but the Balistic Nylon back provides an awesome grip while adding to the aesthetics of the phone.

The phone is available for pre-order via Flipkart for Rs.41,999, along with launch offers like 10% instant discount for American Express card holders and 100% cash back for 25 lucky users. It is expected to be in stock by third week of March.

  1. a great device and an awesome spec sheet. But still the price could have been 4-5 k less than the quoted. The design is not a head turner. I still cant see myself paying 42k for this device.

    • It doesn’t stop there. If I am not wrong most of the just see and pick customers In our country consider only three Smartphone Establishments on the majority when they are looking for anything above INR INR 40,000 price bracket. They are Samsung , Sony and Apple.I don’t have numbers to stand on my side but with what I know as a tech-enthusiast I feel this is what happens.I am not sure why people show this kind of a perception , maybe I think they pay for the brand it flaunts and not the specs it bears.Motorola has positioned itself as a bang for buck provider in the country through its enormously popular E & G offerings but its going to take a lot more clock cycles in the company’s calendar to leave it’s first footprint in the Premium Segment.

    • Moto X retails @ the price you’ve suggested with Full HD display and Snapdragon 801 I Suppose. This seems to be an upgraded version of Moto X which it is for sure , So such a price tag was easily expected.
