We’ve seen Samsung announce the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge at MWC 2015 Barcelona, and now we’re waiting for other versions of the handset to be unleashed. There have been many rumors and leaks regarding the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, but we’re now having a look at a pretty complete one, which sheds light on most of its specs and features.
Samsung-oriented publication SamMobile has it on good account that the rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is just around the corner. According to their sources, and just as many of us could guess, the innards are pretty much the same as the Galaxy S6:
- 5.1 inch QHD Super AMOLED+ display
- Exynos 7420 SoC, 3GB of RAM
- 32GB of on-board storage
- 16-megapixel / 5-megapixel camera
Since we’re speaking of a rugged device, its dimensions will vary, but, still, it doesn’t seem to be too bulky. The new dimensions will be 73.6 x 146.9 x 8.8 mm as opposed to 70.5 x 143.4 x 6.8 mm of the Galaxy S6. As we can see, it will be thicker by just 2 millimeters, and will have a similar aspect ratio. Other publications, however, claim that the device will have a bigger, 5.5-inch display.
To be considered a truly outdoorsy product, it must carry a good battery. Therefore, its size has been bumped to 3500mAh from the 2550 mAh one on the Galaxy S6. We’re wondering whether it will be just as hard to get it out, though.
The smartphone is carrying the model number (SM-G890A) and is said to show up first on AT&T networks. We don’t know any details regarding its price, but expect to pay a nice back for what you’re getting.
