Microsoft officially introduced the Lumia 640 and the bigger 640 XL at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. And now these devices have been launched to the Indian market as well. The Lumia 640 is available for Rs. 11,999 and the 640 XL for Rs. 15,799. We were expecting to cost Rs 9,999 and Rs 13,999 respectively, but the company is looking more hopeful than previously anticipated.

The Lumia 640 is going to be Flipkart exclusive, while the 640 XL will be available across channels. Both smartphones are available starting today. Regarding the specs and features of these two handsets, you should know that both of them come with Windows Phone 8.1 with the Lumia Denim update, upgradable to Windows 10.

The Lumia 640 gets a display of 5-inch with a 1280×720 resolution whereas the bigger Lumia 640 XL has a 5.7-inch screen. The XL version also comes with a bigger 3000 mAh battery, as opposed to the 2500 mAh one on the 640. Both handsets have the same 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, and also the same storage – 8GB of internal space along with 30GB of free OneDrive storage. There’s also a micro SD slot which allows up to 128GB.

If you opt for the bigger Lumia 640, you also a bigger 13 MP AF ZEISS optics Lumia Camera with a front facing 5 MP wide angle FF one as opposed to a 8 MP camera on the smaller model. Both models also come with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and sunlight readability enhancements. You will also get a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal, which brings 1 terabyte of storage on OneDrive and 60 minutes of Skype calling per month.
