A few days back we were telling you that Samsung might rush with the release of the Galaxy Note 5 so that it won’t overlap with the launch of the upcoming new iPhones. And now a fresh report coming from SamMobile seems to suggest that this is indeed going to happen, as the South Korean company will launch both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ on August 12.
Speaking to the Samsung-focused publication, insiders have revealed that the Galaxy Note 5 will be announced on August 12 (Wednesday), and will go on sale two weeks later on August 21 (Friday). The South Korean phonemaker is also believed to launch the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, as well (marketed as Galaxy S6 Edge+), which will share the Note 5’s release dates. SamMobile also points out that Samsung Pay will make its way for US users with this occasion.
When it comes to the specs and features of the next-generation Galaxy Note, it seems that the device will not have a microSD slot. The device is believed to be a ‘blown-up version’ of the Galaxy S6 but with thin screen bezels, a feature we’ve seen today make its way in the Galaxy A8.
The S Pen will be revamped to have the same color as the color of the smartphone and will get some functionality improvements, as well. The Galaxy Note 5 is believed to come in silver, gold, black and white options which should look sharper than on the Note 4 thanks to the new glass construction. The publication seems confident in asserting that the Note 5 will become the first Samsung phone to feature 4GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S6 edge+ will allegedly be powered by the Exynos 7420 instead of a Snapdragon 808, and will have 3GB of RAM. Also, storage options are said to be the same as the Galaxy S6 lineup, and its colors will share the same options as the Note 5.
