Continuing with its ongoing celebration of successfully completing an year of operations in India, Xiaomi will be dropping the price of its current flagship, the Mi 4 (64GB) to Rs.17,999 ($280) from Rs.19,999 ($312) just for a day, tomorrow, i.e 24th July 2015. Although their special anniversary page mentions about the price to be Rs.12,999, we have learnt the actual offer price will be Rs.17,999 and will only be available via Flipkart.
The Mi 4 was launched at an initial price of Rs.19,999 for the 16GB late last year, and eventually the 64GB variant was introduced at Rs.21,999. Back in April this year, the prices were dropped to Rs.17,999 and Rs.19,999 respectively. While the 16GB Mi 4 was further reduced to Rs.14,999, the 64GB version was stuck at Rs.19,999. Now, Xiaomi is dropping its price, albeit for a day.
The phone carries some top notch specs like the 5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM. The rear camera is a 13MP affair with Sony IMX214 f/1.8 sensor. Front facing camera is an 8 MegaPixel Sony CMOS sensor with Auto-focus. But then, the device didn’t fare too well with OnePlus One breathing down its neck with much better hardware at similar prices.
The 16GB version of Mi 4 currently sells for Rs.14,999 – same as the 32GB Mi 4i. We posted a guide yesterday on which one to choose. Now, with 64GB of Mi 4 coming to the fray, it gets tougher to choose. The closest competitor to the Mi 4 continues to be the OnePlus One which is currently priced at Rs.21,999. Don’t be surprised if they drop the price permanently to Rs.17,999 in the near future. In related news, Xiaomi has released the Mi headphones for Rs.5,499 and Mi In-Ear headphones (Piston v3) for Rs.999. Both products are available for purchase on Mi.com
