Personal assistants are becoming smarter and smarter, with both Siri and Cortana receiving new features from Apple and Microsoft. Google is doing the same thing, but it has an even bigger responsability, as Google Now is available to more users, at least on the sheet, than the other two.
Google Now has been updated with a very handy new feature – it allows users to send messages using your favorite free messaging apps. At the moment it supports WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, Telegram and NextPlus in English but Google is looking to add even more apps and languages in the future.
Prior to this update, Google Now allows you to send message via the default messaging app but now you can specify which app to use. Google Now already lets you send quick emails, Hangouts or text messages, so this new feature is very useful for those who rely a lot on their free messaging apps and not so so much on traditional SMS.
Google ‘Now on Tap’ is another useful upcoming feature for Google Now will be made available later this year in Android M. This will allow users to obtain contextual information inside apps without having to close them. In order for the current update to take place, you only need to have the newest versions of all apps installed on your devices.
