Serial Tipster @Evleaks has once again come up with leaked renders and this time around the phones in question are Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and DROID Maxx 2, both of which are expected to be announced on October 27th. The leaked renders show off the phone in full glory and the design is one that is reminiscent of the current crop of Motorola phones. Motorola Droid 2 is fitted with dual front speakers below the screen along and a Verizon Logo separating them. The render below shows off a Droid Turbo 2 (first three from left) and Maxx 2 (last two).
As we move on to the rear, Motorola Droid Turbo 2 doesn’t surprise with the aluminum plate around the screen which is something that we are used to seeing on the current generation Motorola phones, including the recently unveiled Motorola Play and Style. The back panel seems to be warped at the edges but apart from that we couldn’t see any drastic or even minor design changes.
Motorola Droid Turbo 2 will be a premium offering and is expected to come with a 5.5-inch QHD display. Under the hood lies a Snapdragon 810 tagged with 3GB of RAM. On the imaging front, the Droid Turbo 2 is treated to a 20-Megapixel primary snapper and a 5-Megapixel secondary sensor. Droid Maxx 2 seems to be more of a mid-range offering and as a result it’s expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 615 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It is evident from the specs that the Droid Maxx 2 is a rebranded variant of the Moto X Play.
Motorola has been trying to strengthen its stance in the mid-range and premium smartphone segment by introducing new generation sequels of its popular models, the new phones try to strike an optimum balance between the features offered at the price it retails for. It would be good if the company spares some efforts and replaces the current Moto E 4G with a successor that boasts of a better camera unit, since the entry level Android market dynamics are changing constantly and Motorola needs to keep in pace with it.
