Spotify has been undoubtedly one of the best music streaming services around and the fact that Apple Music is trying to take them down has not made them weak. In fact, Spotify has taken personalisation to the next level with the “Your Year in Music”. Unlike some of the other music services, Spotify has not just mindlessly curated a bunch of music playlists for the year 2015, instead they have correlated the musical events in the year and blend them with playlists. Spotify will also display bunch of cool stats about your music preferences ranging from the top album played, total minutes of song listened to and the top artists based on seasons.
In order to taste this new feature, just select “Get Your Year In Music” at spotify.com/2015 and sign into your account to see how and what you listened to this year. This includes:
- Your first played song
- Your top songs, artists and genres
- Your top artists by season
- Total minutes of music listened to
- Total number of songs and artists played
You can even share the generated collage across social networks.
The folks at TheNextWeb also unearthed an Easter egg neatly hidden in the website. Type anything to disturb the URL and you will be gifted with a 404 Error albeit a twist, Justin Biebers ‘Sorry’ being played in the background. Ouch!
As we explained earlier, the Year in Music app is not something that would help you with the music discovery but instead it will remind you why Spotify has been the most preferred Music streaming service. The new feature will also give you a glimpse of how the Music preferences have changed over the past year.
