As expected Samsung has today announced the iterative upgrade for Galaxy A7 and the Galaxy A5 at the ongoing Samsung Forum in Kuala Lumpur which are expected to further strengthen the company’s foothold in the mid-range smartphone segment. The Galaxy A5 is priced at Rs 29,400 and the Galaxy A7 at Rs 33,400, both the phones would be available on Snapdeal and offline retail stores starting from February 15.

The Galaxy A5 is fitted with a 5.2-inch FHD super AMOLED display and draws its power from the octa-core Exynos 7580 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz and paired to a 2GB of RAM. On the imaging front, the Galaxy A5 offers 13-Megapixel front snapper and a 5-Megapixel secondary sensor. The device will be running Android 5.1 Lollipop and will be backed by a 2,900mAh battery pack that supports fast charging. Additional features include a fingerprint sensor, fast charging and the usual bunch of Samsung’s proprietary apps.

The Galaxy A5 offers 16GB of internal memory along with a microSD card slot that can further accommodate 128GB. On the connectivity front the Galaxy A5 comes with the standard set of features inclusive of 4G LTE support and Dual-SIM.

The Galaxy A7 is expected to bridge the gap between A5 and the A9 but a quick look at the specifications reveals that it shares most of its innards with the Galaxy A5. The smartphone comes with a bigger 5.5-inch FHD Super AMOLED display and is powered by the 1.6GHz Exynos 7420 octa core processor. That being said the RAM is bumped up to 3GB and this is worth the price difference Galaxy A7 commands over the A5.

The device will be running Android Lollipop 5.1 and it also heralds with fingerprint sensor, S-voice and is backed up by a larger 3,300mAh battery pack with fast charging support. On the memory front the A7 offers a 16GB of internal storage along with a microSD card that supports up to 128GB. Samsung isn’t really known for aggressive pricings, so that’s pretty much the same with these two devices as well. Interestingly, the 2015 flagship – the Galaxy S6 – is being sold under Rs 31,000 on some of the ecommerce stores in India, and that makes both Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A5 look overpriced.

As detailed earlier, both the Galaxy A5 and the Galaxy A7 will be available on Snapdeal (exclusive online partner) and also at several offline retail shops, and will be sold in Gold, Black and White colors.
