HTC has extended its Desire lineup with three new handsets including the Desire 825, 630 and 530, all of which feature a unique painted-speckled design. They all are targeted mostly at young buyers who can’t afford to spend much, but still want a good looking phone.

Starting off with the high-end model among the three – Desire 825. It comes with a 5.5-inch 720p LCD screen which sounds extremely poor considering how good budget phones have gotten, and underneath there’s a Snapdragon 400 Quad-core processor clocked at 1.4Ghz backed up with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage that is expandable and a 2700mAh battery. It runs on the latest Android Marshmallow with HTC’s custom skin on top. It features company’s signature BoomSound speakers and a High-resolution headset for better audio. There’s a new “HTC Sensor Hub” app that records your activities like walking, running and can sync data to other services including Google Fit, Runkeeper and more. It supports LTE and Dual SIM functionality.

It offers a 13MP rear camera that can record videos up to 1080p along with a 5MP lens on the front. HTC states that a normal user takes about 25,000 selfies during its usage, hence, they included some neat little filters to enhance the experience.

Color options for the Desire 825 include Stratus White, sprayed with a combo of pink and gray, and in Graphite Grey Remix, sprayed with gold color paint. You can purchase additional snap on cases that feature the same splash effect.

Moving on to the Desire 630 which for the most part is the same exact phone but with a smaller display measuring at 5-inches and a tiny 2200mAh battery. Everything else is identical to what you get on the 825.

Finally, there’s the Desire 530 which is an entry-level handset featuring a 5-inch 720p panel, Snapdragon 210 processor along with 1.5GB of RAM. The rear camera has been bumped down to an 8MP shooter to cut costs. Other than that, the 530 lacks all the audio features HTC offers on the 630 and 825.

Frankly, I’m not even sure why HTC is releasing such phones, there are way better options available in the market, no matter how low the pricing of these new products turns out to be. All eyes are right now on the One M10 which seems like company’s final chance for a comeback.

The new Desire phones will be launching sometime in March, with availability in specific markets to come later.
