In line with our earlier reports, Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge in the Indian market priced at Rs 48,900 and Rs 56,900 respectively. As expected, both the devices will come powered by the Exynos 8890 SoC as against the Snapdragon 820 in North American market. Samsung will be bundling in a free Gear VR for those who pre-book the devices, which starts today.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 heralds with a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display while the Galaxy Edge settles for a larger 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED unit. On the imaging front the flagships come equipped with a 12-Megapixel primary sensor accompanied with OIS and the front camera shapes up as a 5-Megapixel unit. As we have been repeating ourselves, the primary highlight of this phone will be the inclusion of previously ditched features including water proofing and expandable memory card slot. The Galaxy S7 design language seems to be a direct derivation from the Galaxy S6 with minor changes in the body lines.

The Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge come baked with the usual set of connectivity features and the Hybrid SIM card slot which can also accommodate microSD card. Other features include Heart Rate sensor, fingerprint sensor and an array of other standard sensors. Thankfully the battery in the Galaxy S7 is a 3000mAh unit and the S7 Edge is a 3,600mAh unit, something much needed to fuel the QHD displays.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge will retail in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium colors and will be made available on midnight of March 17th and will be available across online and offline sales channels. Samsung has also introduced Samsung Concierge after sales service specific to India. It includes services like ‘My Assistant’, ‘Fast Track Service’, ‘Pick up and Drop’ and more.

In tune with the recent reports Samsung is at loggerheads with the iPhone 6s and the South Korean giant doesn’t want to spare any efforts in pitching their flagships. Samsung has also invested a considerable chunk of funds to ensure the best visual merchandising for the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge on the shop floors thus ensuring optimized visibility. The pricing of both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in India can be considered as ‘aggressive’ going by the company’s past announcements. Stay tuned for our first impressions and detailed reviews of both the phones in coming days.
