Less than 2 months after launching the K4 Note, Lenovo has launched the Vibe K5 Plus in India for a price of Rs 8,499. The Vibe K5 Plus (along with Vibe K5) was unveiled at MWC 2016 in Barcelona last month and has already made its way to Indian market where it’s launching even before China. Before you get dizzy with the similar sounding names from Lenovo, the K Note series is for the 5.5-inch phablets, while K and K Plus series is for the smaller – 5″ screen – smartphones. So, the K5 Plus is not really an upgrade over the K4 Note, but successor to the likes of A6000 and A6000 Plus.
So the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus comes with 5-inch FHD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 616 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and mated with 2GB of RAM. The graphics part is handled by Adreno 405 GPU. On the storage front, the K5 Plus offers 16GB of internal storage along with a microSD card that can accommodate an extra 32GB. The K5 Plus comes with a 13-Megapixel primary snapper and a 5-Megapixel fixed focus front sensor.
Keeping them all juiced up is the 2750mAh battery which is removable. The phone runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 with Lenovo’s own Vibe UI skin on top of it. Like K4 Note and Vibe X3, the K5 Plus will also support the TheaterMax technology. The device comes with usual set of connectivity features including 4G LTE, Dual SIM and will retail in Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold and Graphite Gray colors.
Much like most other Lenovo phones released in recent past, the K5 Plus has Dolby audio support which continues to be the unique selling point of Lenovo phones. At Rs 8,499, the Lenovo K5 Plus competes with the likes of Coolpad Note 3, Meizu M2 Note and others. Interestingly, Lenovo isn’t providing the fingerprint scanner which is becoming a norm these days, but hopes to compensate that with Dolby audio support and metallic finish. The K5 Plus will be sold exclusively on Flipkart starting 23rd March and it will be on an open sale.
