Apple’s “Let us Loop you In” event was devoid of surprises as the rumor mills seem to have been fed with the right info. Apple pulled the wraps from the iPhone SE and the iPad Pro, both of which come with a smaller display as opposed to its siblings the iPhone 6s and the iPad Pro. The iPhone SE is priced at Rs 39,000 for the 16GB variant while the price for the 64GB variant is yet to be revealed.

Apple had reportedly sold 30-Million 4-inch iPhone last year and this seems to have been the very premise on which the 4-inch iPhone SE was created. Thankfully the iPhone SE borrows its innards from the iPhone 6s including the 12-Megapixel primary sensor and this makes it one heck of a small screened powerful device. A quick glance at the phone tells us the origin of its design lines, which is undoubtedly the iPhone 5S. That being said the phone doesn’t look bad either.

On the software front it runs iOS 9.3 and with the launch of iPhone SE Apple has announced that it will be discontinuing the iPhone 5S. While the company itself didn’t project the iPhone SE as a cheaper iPhone, there are folks who thought otherwise. The 16GB iPhone SE is like cutting on a lot of things as it will offer around 11-12GB of free space, which is scanty considering the size 4K videos would eventually gobble up. In the US, the iPhone SE starts at $399, but the Rs 39,000 pricing in India is extremely steep considering it translates to $586. It’s beyond our knowledge as to how Apple has arrived at this pricing even after considering all the taxes and duties applicable in India.

The iPad Pro 9.7-inch is a compact version of the 12.7-inch iPad Pro launched last year, it does come with a 12-Megapixel sensor with Live Photos support and a new, smaller Smart Keyboard. The retina display now comes with true tone technology that automatically shifts the colors to a warmer temperature depending on the ambient lighting conditions. The iPad Pro draws its power from the A9X chip and it does support Apple Pencil.

The all new iPad Pro 9.7-inch is priced at Rs 49,990 for the 32GB Wi-Fi only variant, while the 32GB variant with 4G LTE support would cost Rs 61,900. The iPad Pro will also be available in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB variant’s and will be available for ordering from 31st of this month.

Update: iPhone SE will go on sale in India starting April 8th 2016.

Note: An earlier version of the story had incorrectly mentioned the price of iPhone SE as Rs 30,000. Apple India has clarified the price as Rs 39,000
