Just as we were waiting for the Zenfone 3 which is pegged to launch at the Computex on 30th of this month, the company surprised us with yet another refreshed Asus Zenfone Max variant priced at Rs 9,999. Asus had launched the Zenfone Max in India starting this year and the line-up is expected to focus on smartphones with large battery packs. The earlier Zenfone Max also came with a 5000mAh battery and retailed at Rs 9,999. Asus is also offering a 3GB variant priced at Rs 12,999, which carries same hardware other than the RAM.

The new Zenfone Max comes equipped with a 5.5-inch HD display with a pixel density of 320ppi. Under the hood lies a Snapdragon 615 clocked at 1.5GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. On the storage front the new Zenfone Max offers 32GB of internal storage along with a microSD card that can further accommodate up to 64GB.

Zenfone Max will run on Android 6.0.1 out of the box along with the ZenUI overlay. The device will be backed up by a 5,000mAh battery pack that claims to offer 914 or 3-days of talktime. Zenfone Max is equipped with a 13-Megapixel primary sensor with laser focus, f/2.0, dual-LED flash and HDR. The secondary camera is a 5-Megapixel unit with f/2.0.

Camera app in the Zenfone has always been loaded to the brim with features and Zenfone Max is no different. It comes with real time beautification, super resolution (52MP), depth of field, photo effect, slow motion, time rewind, smart remove and panoramic selfies.

The primary difference between the Zenfone Max and the refreshed Zenfone Max is the change of heart, the former was powered by Snapdragon 410 while the latter is powered by Snapdragon 615. Another change that trickles down is the bumped up storage of 32GB from the earlier 16GB. The Zenfone Max also comes with the usual bevy of connectivity features including 4G LTE support, Dual SIM, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n

With the 5000mAh battery and the reverse charging support the Zenfone Max can also act as a powerbank for other phones and devices.

The Zenfone Max 2 will be available in Osmium Black, Pure White, Orange and Blue colors and will retail through both offline and online channels. However, the 3GB Asus Zenfone Max is expected to be available at a later date.
