Xiaomi seems to have up the screen ante with its new Mi Max, a phablet with a 6.4-inch FHD display. While the Mi Max is the largest phone ever from the Xiaomi Stable it does manage to gracefully carry the form factor. The Mi max was launched in China this May and today Xiaomi has launched the device in India. The Mi Max comes in two variants one with 32GB Internal Storage/3GB RAM priced at Rs 14,999 and the top of the line 128GB Internal Storage/4GB RAM priced at Rs 19,999.

The 6.44-inch FHD display unit offers a pixel density of 342ppi and comes covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The Indian variant of the Mi Max is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 652 clocked at 1.8GHz alongside a 4GB of RAM while the 32GB/3GB variant is fitted with an hexacore Snapdragon 650. On the storage front, the device offers 32GB/128GB of Internal Storage along with a microSD card slot that can accommodate 256GB. The Mi Max also comes clad in a full metal body and will be available in Dark Grey, Gold and Silver Colours. The Fingerprint sensor finds a place for itself on the back panel below the camera lens unit. Xiaomi has also diligently taken care of the ergonomics and has introduced contours to make it easier for users to hold thew phone.

Xiaomi Mi Max features a 16-Megapixel primary sensor with PDAF and a 5-Megapixel secondary sensor. The device packs up the usual bunch of connectivity features including 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS with Glonass 802.11ac and a hybrid SIM slot. Thankfully Xiaomi has deployed a massive 4850mAh battery to power up the humongous 6.44-inch FHD display. The Mi Max is not much of a botheration dimension wise, it is relatively thin at 7.5mm and also stands tall at 173.1mm, but again with the huge display, this is something that is pretty evident.

The Mi Max would also come with a free 3-Months Hungama premium movie subscription and a 1-Year Hungama Music subscription.

Xiaomi has also launched the MIUI 8 alongside the Mi Max in India and the new MIUI 8 is brings in a slew of new features along with some amends to the previous ones. Although, the Mi Max would come with MIUI 7 on Android Marshmallow, out of the box, with upgrade to MIUI 8 promised for August.
