Apple’s iOS 10 is studded with new features but here is one that will go a long way in making this world a better place to live. Apple will allow iOS 10 health app users to register as an organ donor with a single tap. This feature is expected to encourage iOS users to register for organ donation. Organ Donation is referred to the process of transferring an organ from a living or a dead person.

The option will be facilitated through a button in the health app, it is also this button that allows users to view and manage their health and fitness data. Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the new option will help them bridge the gap between organ donors and recipients. Apparently, Tim Cook had offered his liver for Steve Jobs while the latter was in a limbo as an organ recipient.

Organ donation has been garnering a lot of attention lately and the importance of the same is further catapulted by the fact that a single organ donor when dead can save up to eight lives. As of now, more than 122,000 people are waiting in the United States for Organ Transplants and it is evident that a small spike in the number of Organ Donor will solve the problem to a greater extent. According to the statistics, 22 people die every day waiting for the life-saving transplants and this is indeed a harrowing fact. In all likelihood, this feature might mark its presence in the iOS 10 Beta 2.

While we can register as an organ donor in many different ways it kind of makes a great pitch include the feature inside an app that iOS users will tend to use regularly. Apart from that, it is also helpful that the app will be recording all the vitals of the donor on a real-time basis, something that would help a great deal during transplants.
