HTC has been struggling to make its comeback in the smartphone scene and the HTC 10 was supposed to be its trump card along with a slew of other mid-rage phones. The HTC 10 was retailing at $699 until HTC tossed in a $100 discount. Furthermore, the company will also supplement the offering with a $100 gift card with which one can buy accessories from HTC Webstore. Taking all the offers into consideration the effective price of HTC 10 comes down to a cool $499.

In case you are planning to buy the HTC 10, we would suggest you hurry up since the offer is expected to last only until the end of this month. However, if you are dreaming about buying Vive or any of Vive related accessories, the fine print forbids you from doing so. HTC is yet to publicly announce its first earnings after the HTC 10 launch and the significant impact of the same on the phones. Strangely enough, HTC is expecting the expensive HTC 10 to help it garner some traction in the market and the company has so far steered clear of the budget Android smartphone segment.

While we do understand that HTC is less inclined to vest its efforts in creating a budget line-up and is instead focussing on the mid-range and premium devices, it might not be such a good idea after all. Samsung has been coming up with decent budget offering since the J Series and they have been making some progress when it comes to stuffing in a decent set of hardware for a given price. Meanwhile, Chinese manufacturers are ruling the roost when it comes to the mid-range segment with ultra-powerful phones like the Mi 5, OnePlus 3 and the Zuk Z2.
