Announced originally at this year’s Mobile World Congress, LG has finally launched the X Screen handset in India at a relatively impressive price tag of Rs 12,990. The main highlight here remains the 1.76-inch always-on secondary display present on the top that constantly shows notifications, custom texts, battery status and more. However, apart from that, the phone itself is comparatively quite underpowered given the current market standards.
To begin with, the X Screen flaunts a 4.9-inch HD IPS panel along with that secondary screen. It runs on Qualcomm’s age old Snapdragon 410 Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.2Ghz, Adreno 306 GPU for graphics, 2GB of RAM, 2300mAh mediocre battery and 16GB internal storage which can be expandable up to 2TB via a MicroSD card. Moreover, there’s a 13MP rear lens with a LED flash and an 8MP front shooter. The phone is fairly light weighing at merely 120 grams and comes packed with 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. On the software front, there’s LG’s custom skin running on top of Android Marshmallow. Moreover, LG claims the glass fiber back is much less fragile than general glass back panels.
The secondary display will appeal on first glance, although, with a tiny battery pack and an average spec sheet, success of this device looks uncertain. LG has been constantly trying to maintain the wow factor in this fast paced market but customers are still opting for alternatives, even their G5 that flaunts a modular design failed to match expectations. The X Screen will be available in black, white and pink gold color variants starting from midnight of July 20th at a price of Rs 12,990.
