Gionee has now unveiled their latest addition to their Marathon Series of smartphone in the form of the M6 and M6 Plus at an event in China. As evident from previous releases, the Gionee (Marathon) M series is the company’s flagship smartphone range with a focus towards improved battery performance, and well it seems to be true this time around too.

Gionee M6 and M6 Plus indeed sports humongous batteries under the hood – 5000mAH and 6020mAh to be precise. That aside, they also come with the ability to be used a powerbank for pumping any other device you happen to be carrying around with you. This is very much useful for users using their smartphone for mobile payments. Sadly, though the encrypted chip will only be present in the variant of the Gionee M6 selling in China. For users internationally as well as in India, the Gionee M6 will come equipped with a fingerprint scanner, privacy protection and malware destruction capabilities.

Coming to the specs, the Gionee M6 comes in an all metal unibody design with a 5.5 inch Full HD AMOLED display protected by a 2.5D Curved Glass to the front. The display comes with 401ppi, 100% NTSC gamut and an impeccable contrast ratio of 30000:1. Under the hood the Gionee M6 is powered by a Helio P10 octa core chip, 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also comes with more slot for memory expansion via MicroSD (upto 128GB).

In terms of cameras, the Gionee M6 comes with a 13MP f/2.0 Sony IMX258 sensor which promises a pixel size of 1.12um, 5P Largan lens a PDAF sensor. On the other hand, the front of the Gionee M6 sports a 8MP f/2.2 Omnivision OV8856 powered selfie snapper.

Despite sporting a large 5000mAH battery, Gionee has kept the dimensions of the M6 in check, as the smartphone is just 8.2mm thick. Coming in Gold and Latte Gold colour variant, the dual SIM Gionee M6 runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 with Amigo OS 3.2 on top. Gionee M6 Plus on the other sports the same specs as its other sibling except for the larger 6 inch Full HD AMOLED display, 6020mAh battery and a 16MP rear camera

The Gionee M6 starts at 2699 RMB (~USD 404/INR 27,200) for the 64GB version and the 128GB version costs 2899 RMB, while the Gionee M6 Plus 64 GB version costs 2999 RMB (~USD 449/INR 30,200) and the higher end 128GB version is priced at 3199 RMB.
