LeEco has tasted quite some success in India ever since the launch of its first set of smartphones – Le 1S and Le Max – earlier this year. Now, the Chinese internet firm is teasing the launch of their Super TVs in the country. Previously TechPP had exclusively reported that LeEco (formerly known as LeTV) is contemplating the launch of their consumer electronics line consisting of LeEco Super TVs and VR headset in India by July.
We learn from our reliable sources that the LeEco Super TV launch is scheduled on the Aug 4 in Delhi, and the above teaser image points towards that as well. With the entry of LeEco into the TV market we may see established brands like Samsung, LG and even homemade companies like VU facing the heat.
LeEco Super TVs are particularly popular in China and has been amassing respectable sales figures in the country. Just like its competitor Xiaomi, LeEco’s TVs are known to offer an exceptional value for money without skimping on quality. As per our internal sources, LeEco is expected to launch its 3rd gen Super TVs initially in India, and will soon follow it up with the launch of their 4th gen models. While the exact models are not known as of now, it is expected that LeEco will go with the trend and launch the large 4K TVs in India alongside budget 40 inch LED models.
It would however be interesting to see how LeEco goes about with their sales model – online exclusive or via offline retail. That aside, the logistics would be another area of concern for LeEco. Nevertheless, the pricing of the LeEco Super TVs will be crucial to the success of the brand in India. Recently, yet another Chinese brand TCL launched four new TVs in India at a stellar price point. Only time will tell, if LeEco would able to match them or even better them. Meanwhile, in a recent development, LeEco has invested in US TV maker Vizio for integrating the company’s own Ecosystem in Vizio’s future products.
