The IFA 2016 is round the corner and slowly mobile brands are coming out with their plans for this year’s mega event scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany. Chinese firm Huawei is among the first to the list as they have now announced their plan to host a news conference at the event on September 1.
Huawei has in fact shared a teaser image on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo regarding the smartphone that will be showcased at the event. The teaser is quite barebones and only showcases the corners of a smartphone that sports metal to the sides. Having outed the Mate 8 and P9 already, it would be interesting to see which smartphone Huawei has in store. Industry tipsters reveal that the device in question is the Huawei Mate S2. The alleged smartphone was, in fact, spotted clearing TENAA certification a few days back.
Incidentally, the Huawei Mate S2 shares a similar rear design to that of the Nexus 6P, except for the fairly large company branding to the bottom. The front of the Mate S2, however, is quite different from the last year’s Nexus. Gone are the dual front firing speakers and the 5.7-inch QHD display. Instead, the Huawei Mate S2 sports a large 5.9-inch FHD display upfront and is powered by an all new Hi-Silicon Kirin 960 octa-core chipset. That said, the flagship device touting an aircraft grade alloy build and is reportedly featuring a 4GB RAM, 16MP rear camera, and a 3000mAH battery.
Some reports coming from China, however, claim that Huawei may choose to showcase their Women-centric smartphone Nova at Berlin. However, not much information about this device is available as of yet. Teaser images leaked on Weibo point at a slim metal profile and a high-resolution selfie camera with beautification modes.
