Google has been adding in a lot of new features for its mobile search and just recently it added a new alert feature for an increase in flight prices. Now Google has announced that one could simply book an Uber or Ola directly from the Google Search. Earlier this year Google had incorporated Ola and Uber in the Google Maps which also sported a dedicated tab for cab aggregator services in addition to the driving, public transport and also walking options.

This means that the commuters can not only ask for directions but also book a cab for themselves. Yet another interesting aspect is that you can compare the price of the cab services right on the search page. Also, Google will fetch the trip estimate and other details without actually opening up the app along with the nearby location of the cab on the map.

Google will return results for searches like “Taxi to Bangalore airport” or even “Uber to Bangalore airport.” The other search queries can be “HSR Layout to Koramangala.” However, when one taps on the service they will be redirected to the app so this feature still relies heavily on the app and it is only that the ride details are displayed on the Search page. In case you have not installed the Ola or Uber app the Google Search will prompt you to do so with an install link.

Talking about the new feature Sanket Gupta, Program Manager, Google said “Choosing the best transit option can be a task at times, our aim is to help users simplify their everyday travel. With this, users will be able to order, explore and make quick comparisons about the best-estimated taxi fare directly from Google Search results on their mobile.”
