We’ve seen several rapid smartphone application trends this year ranging from hunting for fictional creatures around the globe on Pokemon Go, turning surreal selfies into art through Prisma, and a whole lot more. To highlight the leading titles and continuing their tradition, Google has officiated the “Best 0f 2016” list revealing the top trending content on the Play store. The list also outlines the most streamed movies, songs, and even, books.

However, the results disclose that Android users aren’t particularly installing the best titles and as a result, there are some bizarre entries too in terms of sheer download numbers. While globally, “Face Changer 2” leads, “BeautyPlus Me – Perfect Camera” is the front-runner in India. As expected, “Pokemon Go” is the most trending game followed by the multiplayer behemoth, “Clash Royale” that is actually the best game of the year according to Google. It is also worth noting that Indians have acclaimed Google’s efforts to make its video-calling service work efficiently on slow networks as “Duo” stands third in the country.
