Also, Amazon Prime Video is part and parcel of its Prime subscription service in India. The pricing makes Amazon Prime Video as the most affordable streaming service in India and this is something that will thwart Netflix’s user base. Once signed in you will be surprised by the variety in the catalog, it is easy to deduce that Amazon has one of the well-curated content when it comes to the Prime video. Amazon had been lately strengthening its local content offering by partnering with major Indian Bollywood studios and distributors including Dharma productions and T-Series, needless to say, Amazon will bid exclusive rights for most of their titles.

Amazon Original Series has been pretty impressive especially with Jeremy Clarkson’s new motoring show The Grand Tour being the showstopper. Also one would get to watch other award winning shows including Red Oaks, Transparent, Bosch and Mozart in the Jungle. The best part is that most of the shows come laced with subtitles in Indian local languages.

Bollywood content on the Amazon Prime Video includes Kabali, Sultan, Sabarjit and a bunch of other exclusives including Dil Dhadkne Do, Shaandaar, Talaash and Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani. Amazon is also expected to beef up its local content as we move forward. For those desiring flavors of Hollywood, the Amazon Video offers timeless classics like The Godfather, War of the World, Saving Private Ryan and other relatively new titles including Rogue Nations.

To top it all, Amazon Prime Video also offers an offline download and viewing feature, something that even Netflix started offering recently. Priced at Rs 999 (Amazon Prime + Videos) for a year the Prime Video is the most affordable video streaming service India has seen and the introductory pricing of Rs 499 makes it only much more compelling. Current Prime subscribers don’t need to pay anything above the Rs 499 that they have already paid and new subscribers will be treated with a month of free trial.
