Xiaomi has now launched two new audio equipment in their homeland. This includes a new Xiaomi Mi Piston Fresh earphones and a budget version of the Mi Headphones that was announced early last year. Recently, the Chinese electronics firm unveiled their first Mi Car Air Purifier, besides reducing the price of its Mi Air Purifier 2 and Air Purifier Pro.
Starting off, the Xiaomi Mi Piston Fresh looks quite identical to the month old Piston Pro. With that said, it’s worth noting that the Mi Piston Fresh is apparently a budget alternative of the flagship earphone that was launched last month. Priced at 29 Yuan (Rs 283/$4.2 approx.) the Xiaomi Mi Piston Fresh comes with a metal chamber made out of anodized aluminum alloy. This alloy has been passed through a sandblasting process to give it a scratch-resistant and anti-fingerprint capabilities. The ear tips, on the other hand, are made out of silicon and come in small and large sizes.
As for the hardware, the Xiaomi Mi Piston Fresh comes with a 3rd generation system that uses separate air flow for front and rear chambers. Due to this system, the air comes enters through the front chamber and leaves through the rear chamber. Xiaomi claims that the damping system helps to optimize the tri-band performance of the Mi Piston Fresh. The earphones also come with an in-line control that features a microphone and a button for playing or pausing music and answering or ending calls. The Mi Piston Fresh comes in a number of color options including black, silver, blue, purple and pink and is expected to go on sale via Mi.com soon.
Xiaomi has also launched a new budget Mi Headphones alongside the Piston Fresh. This is in fact, the second over-the-ear headphone from the Chinese electronics firm. For those unaware, Xiaomi had launched a $499 premium headphones last year, which apparently also made an entry into India. Unlike last year, Xiaomi had opted for a minimalistic design made out of a polycarbonate shell for the Mi Headphones. It comes in a number of color options including white, orange and mint. The headphones come with silicon ear muffs covered with a high-grade PU leather.
The Mi Headphones come with a closed sound chamber design that helps eliminate the outside noise. The speaker used inside the headphone promise an impedance of 32 Ω and feature a built-in damping system. This results in less distortion and helps absorb internal acoustic waves on the diaphragm. As for the wires, the Mi Headphones utilize a single wire system located on the left side of the device. This wire also comes with a built-in microphone and controller which enables users to play and pause music by a simple press of a button.
Xiaomi has priced the Mi Headphone at price of 199 Yuan (Rs 1,943/$29 approx.) To justify its competitive price tag, Xiaomi revealed that this headphone is the winner of the Japanese Hi-Res audio-quality certification.
