Of late, Samsung has been making headlines for all sorts of wrong reasons. Starting from Galaxy Note 7 battery explosions to the arrest of the company’s heir on grounds of bribery, the company has seen it all. Now the Korean electronics firm aims to resurrect its fortunes with the impending launch of their flagships Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.
After numerous leaks surrounding the launch date and the specs of the smartphones, the pricing and the color variants of the Galaxy S8 duo have now been revealed.
The leaked information originates from a Ukrainian retailer’s database. It reveals details of two smartphones codenamed SM-G950 and SM-G955 which we believe is none other than the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. As per the database, the Samsung Galaxy S8 flagships will come in three color variants namely Black, Gold and Orchid Gray. That said, these might not be the only color options for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. However, this report leaves enough evidence to believe that the smartphone would at least be available in the above mentioned colors.
The database listing also comes with a pricing for each of the variants of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. If the listing is to be believed, Samsung will be pricing their Galaxy flagship higher than last year. While the prices of the devices are mentioned in the currency of Ukraine, Hryvnia and approximate calculation reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus would be priced at $950 (Rs 63,744 approx.) and $1,050 (Rs 70,435 approx.) This leaked information corresponds with the previous report that revealed that Samsung might be hiking the prices of its Galaxy S8 flagship.
Samsung’s leading competitor, Apple, is tipped to hike the pricing of their iPhone 8. Rumor mills, in fact, hint at a price similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. It however worth noting that the Indian pricing of these smartphones is expected to be even higher. For starters, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were launched in India at a price of Rs 48,990 and Rs 56,900 respectively. This was about 5℅ greater than its launch price in Europe. So, expect Samsung to give its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus a similar treatment in terms of price this time around.
Samsung has officially announced that the company won’t be debuting their flagship smartphone at the MWC this year. Instead, it would announce a separate launch date for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus at the mega event in Barcelona.
