Alongside the much-awaited Surge S1 SoC Xiaomi has also announced the new Mi 5c.The new device will be the first one being powered by the Surge S1 SoC and it would be the testing grounds for Xiaomi when it comes to chipset level optimizations. The Mi 5c also comes with a front fingerprint sensor a lightweight metal body.
The Xiaomi Mi 5c comes fitted with a 5.15-inch FHD display with 550-nit brightness, backlit controls, and reading mode. The device is slim at 7.09mm and weighs in at just 132gms. Powering the device is the latest Surge S1 octa-core SoC that is made up of four quad-core A53 clocked at 2.2GHz and four quad-core A53 clocked at 1.4GHz. On the storage front, the device offers 64GB of memory and 3GB of RAM.
Imaging arrangements on the Xiaomi Mi 5c include a 12-Megapixel primary sensor with 1.25nm and single frame HDR. Furthermore, the Surge ISP algorithm is expected to increase the light sensitivity while preserving the details even in low light. The 14-bit color depth processing will help in achieving rich and detailed colors. Multi-Shot optimization will automatically pick the best shot out of five frames. The secondary camera on the Mi 5c is an 8-Megapixel sensor which is complemented by Xiaomi’s beauty mode. The Mi 5c is backed by a 2860mAh battery which supports 9V 2A fast charging. On the connectivity front Xiaomi Mi 5c supports VoLTE HD calls, baseband upgrade and comes with a 32-bit high-performance DSP for voice processing. The Xiaomi Mi 5c is priced at EMB 1,499 (apprx.
