Jio Prime has undoubtedly taken the Indian telecom market by storm with its aggressive pricing aimed at early Jio subscribers. It’s a way for Reliance to test how many of the free subscribers are willing to pay for the services once the free data offer ends on March 31st, 2017. But Reliance isn’t completely done with its boutique of offers. TechPP has an exclusive news about the new “Buy One Get One” offer. Read on for more details.
As you’d already know, the Jio Prime offer is valid for recharges done between 1st March and 31st March with a minimum recharge subscription of Rs 303. Under the new “Buy One Get One” offer, Jio will be offering a free add-on worth Rs 201 for anyone recharging with Rs 303 which gives them an additional ‘one-time’ benefit of 5 GB data. For recharges of Rs 499 and above, you will get 10 GB of extra free data.
It’s not clear why Reliance Jio felt the need to come with this additional free data offer, but it’s possibly to make it even more attractive than it is. It can also be that Jio was expecting a lot more people out of its 100 million+ subscribers to opt for Prime membership once the offer went live on March 1st, although people have time until the 31st to pay Rs 99 and get the Prime membership.
Just to be clear, this is a one-time benefit on the first recharge (in April 2017) and the data will be valid for that month only. Also, the free add-on will be automatically applied by Jio and there is no need to apply any promo code as such. Quite clearly, the choice of name isn’t the best as one would assume that they will be getting an additional Prime membership, which isn’t the case. But it’s still a good one considering how pricey mobile data is on other carriers right now.
