Messenger app has been picking up new features quite regularly and this tie around Facebook has designed a couple of new features with a focus on group conversations. Facebook recently added the Instagram stories like feature called Messenger day wherein one could post pics of the day and also add filters along with other fun elements.
Facebook Messenger now offers Message Reactions, an ability to reply to individual messages with an emotion. The next time your friend asks you to accompany him for the boring Opera perhaps you can just send a frown-faced emoji! Again the Reaction becomes a quintessential feature in group chat wherein it becomes important not to lose the context. In order to add a reaction all you need to do is press and hold any message and then tap to select from the bouquet of reactions including the love, smile, angry and no emojis.
One will be able to see how people have reacted at the lower left corner. The reactions feature is pretty much similar to the one we have seen on the Facebook. Also baked in is a notification system that beams small animation as and when you receive reactions for your messages. Remember that “Thumbs Up” reaction we use so often on Facebook? Well, now it has got its ugly cousin onboard, the Thumbs Down! This dislike button is expected to help folks express their displeasure at something.
@mentions is something you swear by, especially if you use group chat. Messenger now lets its users tag their friends in conversations by using “@mentions.” The person who has been mentioned will also receive a special notification which will help them resume the conversation. The Reactions and he Mentions will also be available for Work. Chat in Workplace and will be rolled out globally on Messenger as well. That said both of the features are already offered by WhatsApp for quite some time.
