Lenovo unveiled the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Just after that, the company launched the Moto G5 Plus in India earlier this month and was silent on the prospects of Moto G5 launching here. But now, we have a date for that as well. April 4th. The Moto G5 will be launching in India next week at an event in New Delhi, for which we just got an invite.
Interestingly, the Moto G5 doesn’t have the camera bump that we saw on the G5 Plus. The primary camera is a 13-megapixel shooter with PDAF (Phase Detection AutoFocus), dual-LED flash, and there’s a wide-angle 5MP lens on the front as well. Needless to say, it won’t be matching the camera prowess of its bigger brother.
Much like the G5 Plus, the Moto G5 will be launching with Android Nougat out of the box with all the Moto goodies such as Moto Display, Actions, twist gesture for launching the camera, and more. Additionally, if you want to, you can also disable Android’s on-screen buttons and use swiping gestures on the larger-than-usual fingerprint sensor instead.

The G5 was launched with two color options at the MWC – Lunar Gray and Fine Gold and we expect the same in India as well. The G5 Plus was exclusive to Flipkart, and we guess that was the reason to split the launches in India. So expect the Moto G5 to be Amazon exclusive. Stay tuned for more coverage.
