Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus has been garnering rave reviews ever since it was launched a week ago. The rumor mills were earlier predicting a dual camera setup on the Galaxy S8 but the devices were launched with a single rear-facing camera. The camera has also been a disappointing aspect for many since its borrowed from its predecessor despite the new imaging chip. Now adding salt to the injury is prototype pictures of early Galaxy S8+ with the dual-camera setup.
It is but evident that the dual camera setup was in works for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ but the company seems to have sided with a single lens unit for the final version. It’s a common practice for OEM’s to ready different versions of the prototype with varying specifications and features. The production version is chosen only after extensive testing and working out all the other variables involved in the process. The leaked images show off two camera sensors, heart rate monitor, LED flash and also has the model number “SM-G955F” stamped on the device. It’s also quite possible that Samsung is saving this feature for the upcoming Note 8.
Apart from the dual camera setup, a 6GB variant of Samsung Galaxy S8 has been spotted in the wild. The screenshots allegedly depict a Samsung RAM management screen that shows the total RAM to be 6GB out of which 2.9GB is currently being used by the device. The screenshots hint at the possibility that perhaps a 6GB variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is in the making. Supporting the existence of a 6GB RAM variant is the TENAA listings that had appeared before the official launch and also mentioned a 6GB RAM on the Galaxy S8. Currently, the S8 and the S8+ come equipped with a 4GB RAM. Samsung Galaxy S8 is the first device that comes baked in with the Samsung Bixby digital assistant and also supports DeX docking. Also, Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8+ are the first smartphones in the world to come equipped with Bluetooth 5.0.
