A set of new leaks has revealed details about the upcoming iPhone 8, MacBook Pros and most importantly Apple Glasses. It’s a well-known secret that Apple is working on a smart glass and this is courageous in itself since Google has already tried their hands at one and failed. Apple has been quoted earlier claiming that they want to take the smart glasses project “from a science project towards a consumer product.”
In the recent past the some of the engineers working at Microsoft for the Hololens and for the Oculus have been hired by Apple. It is these engineers that command a great deal of experience in the relevant fields including head-mounted displays and other optical solutions. According to the AMA on Reddit, the Foxconninsider has revealed that the Apple smart glass uses a prism to convey an image to the lens with a resolution of 428×240 and the glasses also come fitted with a microphone for SIRI commands and an accelerometer as well. Interestingly the smart glass also features a small capacitive strip which can be used for accepting calls and also adjusting volume.
Furthermore, the lens can also be polarised and the glasses can be manufactured in different sizes for both men and woman. The frames for the Apple Smartglass will likely be made out of Crystal, champagne and black. The insider further claims that the Apple SmartGlass will be priced to the north of $600. That being said the insider also casts his doubts about the entire project and said that there is a 65% chance that the project might never see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Manufacturing a smart glass poses a little too many manufacturing constraints. For instance, it becomes very difficult to manufacture a flexible battery and so is the display prism. Apart from the Apple Glasses the insider also revealed some crucial information about the MacBook lineup. As per the source, the MacBook Air lineup is currently discontinued while the 15-inch MacBook Pro will now get a 32GB RAM option.
