TCL has now launched its first smartwatch in India. It’s called the TCL Movetime smartwatch. The watch is available for sale via Amazon at Rs 9,999.
The TCL Movetime smartwatch precedes the Moveband fitness tracker which was launched at Rs 1,999 a few weeks earlier. The main highlight of the TCL Movetime smartwatch is its integrated heart rate sensor. This feature was apparently missing in the TCL Moveband fitness tracker. That aside, the TCL Movetime comes with all other functionalities one would expect from a smartwatch.
The TCL Movetime looks just like a standard watch with a round face and a black TPU leather strap. The watch face packs a 1.39 inch AMOLED (400x400p) touchscreen display. It is powered by RT OS and is compatible with devices running Android 4.3, iOS 8.0 and higher. Besides, the smartwatch comes with 16MB RAM and 32MB of storage. As for the connectivity it features a Bluetooth 4.0 BLE and a pogo pin for charging. The TCL Movetime comes with a 350mAh battery which is said to offer a standby time of up to one week.
The smartwatch is capable of recording your activity related data. These include the standard parameters like steps taken, calories burnt and sleep duration. Further, it allows users to receive and make calls directly from the watch. The TCL Movetime in fact, comes with a built-in loudspeaker and a microphone. Besides, the smartwatch shows notifications, SMS, reminders and E-mails directly from your phone. TCL has also included gesture controls like twisting your wrist to play music or snap a photo.
The budget smartwatch segment hasn’t boomed well during the past few years. Most consumers who run on a tight budget are content at owning a smart band rather than a smartwatch. With smart bands like the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, Lenovo SmartBand are now offering small OLED displays, the competition is getting even stiffer. The TCL Movetime watch will face direct competition from Titan Juxt Pro and the Asus Zenwatch 2. Both of these watches are priced under Rs 10,000 in India.
