Wondering what’s next after the phones with bezel-less displays and 18:9 ratio? Well, Meizu seems to have figured out the best way to stand out of the crowd. Live image leaks point out at a secondary display on the back of the Meizu Pro 7. The display sits snug just below the rear camera unit. While I do agree that the secondary screen is more of an attempt to hog the limelight, it won’t be surprising if it actually ends up impressing the crowd.
Apparently, both the Meizu Pro 7 and the Pro 7 Plus will be featuring the secondary display on the back of the device, and it better be protected by a come with Corning Gorilla layering. The initial set of leaks had pointed out that the secondary display may be an e-ink one similar to the Yotaphone or the iPhone cases. However, the new leaked images show off a color display, in fact, one of the image shows a Pacman game running on the back.
Perhaps Meizu thought that it would be better to include an LCD display instead of the e-ink since the former would offer better features. In all likelihood, the secondary display is expected to take a toll on battery life. Moving on, the Meizu Pro 7 is most likely to come with a 5.2-inch FHD display while the Plus variant will come with a slightly larger 5.5-inch (maybe even higher) display. Furthermore, the leaks also reveal that the device may be powered by a MediaTek Helio X30. On the imaging front, Meizu is rumoured to be featuring a 12-Megapixel Sony IMX386 and Sony IMX286 sensors. The front camera will be a 16-Megapixel sensor.
As per the leaks base variant of the Meizu Pro 7 is expected to be priced at around 2,799 Yuan while the top of the line variant will be priced at a much higher CNY 3,299 ($486). The larger Meizu Pro 7 Plus is expected to be priced from CNY 3,299 ($486) to CNY 3,799 ($560).
