After teasing the launch on social media for the past week, OnePlus has today announced it’s bringing a limited edition Soft Gold variant for the OnePlus 5 in India. The company claims it’s “30% finer than that of previous OnePlus Soft Gold devices” and will be available to purchase starting from this month’s 9th for INR 32,999.
The OnePlus 5 Soft Gold edition comes with 6 GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The handset will be sold on OnePlus’ exclusive e-commerce partner – Amazon.in in India and the company’s official store globally. In addition to that, customers will be able to buy the device from various OnePlus Experience stores in Bangalore, Mall of India Noida and Select Citywalk in New Delhi, while supplies last.
Along with that, OnePlus is also launching an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant for the Slate Gray color option. You will be able to buy it from Amazon.in, oneplusstore.in and across OnePlus Experience Stores in Delhi and Bangalore at INR 37,999 in India, in the upcoming weeks.
The OnePlus 5 Soft Gold variant largely resembles company’s previous gold models featuring a white front and gold accents around the fingerprint scanner. The rear consists of darker antenna lines that certainly hinder the device’s otherwise coherent aesthetics. Unlike the OnePlus 3T soft-gold variant, the OnePlus 5 comes with a relatively dusky shade which can be a good or bad thing depending on your taste. In our personal opinion, though, both the Black variants look a lot better, probably due to the black front which usually looks better than the white bezels around the display. But for anyone who fancies a gold variant, the soft-gold option of OnePlus is by far the best option available.
Commenting further on the new launch, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India, said “As a maker of the most beautifully designed smartphones, it gives us immense joy to introduce the latest OnePlus 5 with even more refined and elegant Soft Gold finish this festival season. The latest OnePlus 5 Soft Gold will appeal to those who are looking for the perfect balance of beautiful design and powerful features.”
We suspect OnePlus will continue to introduce newer color options every couple of months or so, considering we have seen leaks and rumors of other color variants of the OnePlus 5 in the past. For those considering the phone, do check our detailed review over here.
