Samsung has now launched a new pair of bendable headphones. It is called the Samsung U Flex. Apart from its bendable character, the earphone is capable of launching the Bixby Assistant, thanks to the presence of a physical button.
The Samsung U Flex is a wireless headphone that comes with Bluetooth capabilities. It sports a neckband like design. The basic structure is made out of a flexible rubberized polycarbonate, thereby allowing the earphone to bend up to 100 degrees. This gives it a robust form factor and inspires enough confidence to carry them around in jeans pockets. Samsung has made use of a P2i nano coating technology to protect the earphone from splashes of water. That said, the coating doesn’t give water proofing capabilities to the U Flex. So don’t go for a dive with the Samsung U Flex on your neck.
Internally, the Samsung U Flex uses a two-way speaker unit. This is composed of 11-millimeter woofers and 8-millimeter tweeters. Samsung believes that the U Flex has the ability to offer a premium sound experience to its users. Furthermore, Samsung has included its proprietary Scalable Codec technology into the earphones. The feature is, however applicable only for smartphones running on Android Nougat or higher. The Scalable Codec technology increases the range and the strength of Bluetooth signals and reduces Wi-Fi interference. The Samsung U Flex can vibrate for calls and notifications too.
The wireless earphones from Samsung get a dedicated Active Key for Bixby. The Bixby activation features are however applicable only for Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ users. Those using other smartphones can remap the Active Key for any other function ranging from activating clocks to opening Samsung Health. That said, you need to download the Samsung Level app for remapping the Active Key. The wireless earphone also comes with the set of buttons consisting of play or pause, volume controls, and power button. It also has a microUSB port for charging. Samsung claims that its U Flex can survive up to 10 hours on a single charge.
The Samsung U Flex comes in three color hues namely Blue, Black and Ivory. Samsung hasn’t announced the pricing and the availability of the earphones yet. The Korean electronics maker is expected to bring it to most of its international markets. The U Flex joins Samsung’s ever expanding line up of wireless earphones. Samsung currently sells its Level U headphone in India.
