Asus is adding yet another gaming laptop to its Republic of Gamers (ROG) lineup in India with the launch of the ROG Zephyrus. Touted as the “world’s thinnest gaming laptop”, it was originally launched at this year’s Computex conference back in May. The device will be first showcased on August 20 in Bangalore during the ROG Masters South Asia finale.
The headlining feature of the ROG Zephyrus is the presence of Nvidia’s new Max-Q technology which enables manufacturers to embed the mighty GeForce GTX 1080 graphic card in a relatively slender body. As a result, the laptop is merely 16.9mm-thick and weighs 2.2kg which is significantly less than Razer’s Blade Pro. Part of that thinness is down to a new thermal design that, when the laptop is open, pushes out a small exhaust port on the underside. Despite that, though, the ROG Zephyrus doesn’t compromise when it comes to the hardware.
For starters, it features the 7th-Gen 7700HQ CPU, Windows 10 Creators Update, and up to 24GB RAM. There’s a 15-inch full-HD panel with an anti-glare coating and NVIDIA G-Sync which allows considerably fewer stutters while running high-definition titles. There’s a four-cell, 50Wh battery that should give you roughly three hours on normal use.
As far as ports are concerned, the Zephyrus doesn’t disappoint there either. It offers a Thunderbolt 3 Type-C, HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack, and three USB 3.1 openings. The laptop comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a gaming computer including a sleek black aesthetic coupled with an RGB keyboard. The Asus ROG Zephyrus will be available soon for a whopping sum of Rs 2,99,990 in India.
Commenting further on the launch, Peter Chang, regional head – South Asia & country manager – Asus India said, “ROG aims to create laptops that are slimmer, cooler, quieter and more powerful than ever before — to fully address the needs of today’s highly mobile gamers. ROG Zephyrus is the result of this persistent dedication to gaming innovation. Being the first notebook to feature NVidia Max-Q design technology, ‘Zephyrus’ is the thinnest, lightest yet one of the most powerful gaming laptops at the moment.”
