YU Televentures, a sub brand of Micromax has launched a new smartphone in the country. Dubbed the YU Yureka 2, it is the successor to the original YU Yureka that debuted two years back. YU, the brain child of Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma had been relatively silent throughout the major part of last year.
Of late, the online exclusive sub-brand has launched a few new smartphones and the YU Yureka 2 appears to be latest of the lot. The YU Yureka 2 is a flagship offering from the brand and sits right at top of its smartphones lineup. The smartphone is priced at Rs 11,999. YU currently sells YU Yunique 2, YU Yureka Black and YU Yunicorn in the country at Rs 5,999, Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively.
The YU Yureka 2 comes in gold color with a removable metal back. Up front, it has a 5.5 inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080p) IPS display with 2.5D curved glass for protection. Apart from that, the front of the smartphone houses an earpiece, front camera, set of sensor and three backlit capacitive keys. The back, on the other hand, houses a fingerprint sensor and a rear camera. Speaking of cameras, the YU Yureka 2 houses a 16MP rear shoot that comes equipped with dual tone LED flash. Furthermore, the Yureka 2 packs an 8MP front facing selfie snapper.
Powering the YU Yureka 2 is a 2GHz octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and 4GB RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone comes with 64GB of inbuilt memory. Additionally, you can expand the memory up to 128GB using a MicroSD card slot. Besides these, the Yureka 2 comes with 3,930mAH battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

One of the major drawbacks of the YU Yureka is the fact that it still runs on Android Marshmallow. This is unacceptable considering the fact that fast update was one of the main marketing pillars for the YU brand. While the YU Yureka 2 may receive an Android Nougat 7.1 update sometime later this year, it’s highly unlikely that YU would be rolling out Android Oreo 8.0 for it.
