The HMD backed Nokia debuted the new lineup with the Nokia 3 in India earlier this year. The company has already launched the Nokia 5, 6 and the Nokia 8 for the Indian markets but it was missing out on an affordable budget Android smartphone. After several appearances in leaks, Nokia has finally launched the Nokia 2 at an event in Delhi. Priced at €99, the Nokia 2 will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 4A and Moto C Plus.
The Nokia 2 comes equipped with a 5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla and is powered by a Snapdragon 212 paired with 1GB of RAM. On the storage front, the device offers a paltry 8GB of internal storage. Designwise the Nokia 2 looks pretty neat with the rounded edges and the device is available in Copper Black, Pewter Black, and Pewter White.
The camera arrangements on the Nokia 2 is inclusive of an 8-Megapixel primary sensor with LED flash at the back and a 5-Megapixel secondary/selfie sensor at the rear. Nokia has also included the much touted “Bothie” feature that would allow users to use both front and rear cameras simultaneously.
The device runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1 (with Android Oreo promise) and is backed by a 4,100mAh battery that is rated to last for 2-days. As with the other Nokia devices, the Nokia 2 will also be offered with priority updates and the near stock Android, a welcome feature in this price segment.
Other highlights of the phone include the 6000 series aluminum frame along the sides and the Corning Gorilla glass on the back panel. The Nokia 2 is priced at €99 globally and will be available starting from mid-November. That being said, the company is yet to announce the India pricing for the Nokia 2. Rumors say that it will be priced at Rs 6,999.
