Amazon has recently unveiled its Echo range of devices in India. The range starts from Rs 3,149 for the Amazon Echo Dot. The Amazon Alexa is arguably one of the most popular smart speakers and now it comes with Saavn music streaming support. Saavn has tied up with Amazon and integrated the music streaming services into all the Alexa-equipped devices starting from October 31.
Saavn has been teaming up with OEMs and other manufacturers to include their music service as a built-in app. In fact, the music services company also runs campaigns in parallel with the smartphone manufacturers. That apart, Spotify is yet to support India and the Saavn seems to be a better choice since it is India centric.
Amazon Echo users will now be able to ask Alexa to play a song of their choice. The users can also query for their favorite singer and play the songs based on other information like the genre. Yet another interesting feature is that the Alexa integration will also allow users to query songs by naming the actor, neat indeed. Saavn has a presence in over 200 countries and the catalog currently includes 36 Million tracks across 15 languages.
Amazon has customised the Alexa personal assistant for the Indian market. The company has added support for regional pronunciations, understanding of domestic names, music titles and places in regional languages. The Echo also comes with India specific skills including Ola, Uber, ESPNcricinfo and now Saavn.
Amazon’s Echo line of products is essentially voice-controlled smart speakers that are capable of answering questions, performing actions like play music and control other compatible devices. The devices come integrated with the company’s far-field technology and can be invoked by simply saying ‘Alexa’ from across the room.
