Flipkart has today introduced its very own smartphone under the exclusive ‘Billion’ brand which was originally announced back in July. Called the “Billion Capture+”, the handset is designed, engineered, manufactured and tested in India. Flipkart says it has been developed post an “extensive research of Indian smartphone buyers” through reviews on the e-commerce portal. Priced at Rs 10,999, the Billion Capture+ will be available from November 15th on Flipkart.
The “Billion Capture+”, in terms of specifications, comes with all the usual trappings you’ll find on a budget phone. This includes a 5.5-inch Full HD panel on the front and a banal clamshell aesthetic. Underneath, the Capture+ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, Adreno 506 GPU, 3/4GB of RAM, 32/64GB internal memory which can be expanded and a 3,500mAh non-removable that supports quick charging.
Furthermore, there’s a dual-camera setup on the rear along with a fingerprint sensor beneath it. The optics arrangement houses one regular 13-megapixel RGB lens and another 13-megapixel Monochrome one which, in theory, should allow the camera to capture relatively more accurate colors than the competition. For software, Flipkart has bundled Android Nougat (7.1.2) out-of-the-box which is upgradable to Android Oreo. Although they haven’t specified when that update will arrive.
The Billion Capture+ is also compatible with two SIM cards, 4G VoLTE and features a USB Type-C port. In addition to that, Flipkart has stated that the phone will come with “unlimited cloud storage”. However, details regarding that are yet to be revealed. It could be perhaps for storing photos and videos like what Google offers with its Pixel phones.
The Billion Capture+ will be available in two color options — Mystic Black and Desert Gold. The variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage will go on sale for Rs 10,999, while the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage one is priced at Rs 12,999. There are a couple of introductory offers as well such as No Cost EMI, discounts on various debit/credit cards and more. Moreover, the company says it has currently 130 service centers in 125 cities and towns across India.
